Ryan Pinfield - an introduction
Hello there, my name is Ryan Pinfield.
I have created this blog to demonstrate my work and to discuss the different challenges i have faced and how i have overcome them, to begin here is a short introduction of who i am and my goals.
First of all, I am passionate about video games, i always have been. When i was 8 years old my father bought me a Nintendo 64, i remember how excited i was, it felt like a brand new world for me to explore. The first game i ever played was Super Mario 64 and from the moment i stepped into that world i knew that i wanted a career in the video games industry. Since then i have spent the majority of my life playing video games, i consider myself to be a hardcore gamer.
It wasn't until i finished my college course that i realized that my childhood dream could become a reality, i signed up for a foundation course in Computer Games Technology at Bournemouth University. I wanted to go to the honors degree course but unfortunately i didn't get enough tariff points to enter this course, this being mostly due to the fact that i was abit of a layabout in college however once i realized that you only get one shot at an education i pulled my finger out and i dedicated all my efforts to learn and improve my skills as much as possible during my foundation course and because of that i graduated from the course with a distinction, 82%. I was very proud of myself having gained this mark.
Having gained this high mark i then moved onto an honors degree course in Games Technology at Bournemouth university. I went straight to the second year as this offered me a huge amount of opportunities such as the development of my skills, the ability to enter competitions and the option to take a placement year. During this course I've learnt a number of skills such as Programming in a variety of languages such as C++, C#, XNA and unreal script. i have also learnt a number of skills in 3D modeling.
Throughout my course i have realized that i enjoy programming over anything else, therefore i have decided to pursue it as a career.
With a small number of students in my current year i co-founded a small team named Static Games, if you haven't heard of us we are currently taking part in the Make Something Unreal competition developing Mendel's Farm.
